During his training, he works alongside colleagues from other medical specialties such as internal medicine, general surgery, anesthesiology and also carries out courses in otorhinolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), plastic surgery and neurosurgery. , and in emergency medicine. His training focuses on bone tissue, skin and muscles of the face, mouth and jaw. The maxillofacial surgeon has knowledge and expertise that allows him to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the function and aesthetics of the face.

Why consult a maxillo-facial surgeon?

The maxillofacial surgeon, with a ten-year university education, is the best person to plan and perform tooth replacement with dental implants. It is also possible to administer a sedation anesthesia to remove any unpleasant sensation during treatment including extraction of impacted wisdom teeth. Prosthodontics

What is a prosthodontist?

Within the dental team, the role of the prosthodontist is to make the diagnosis and develop the treatment plan and sequence in order to provide the patient with the best possible care. The prosthodontist restores the patient’s dental condition using a wide range of procedures such as fillings, prostheses, veneers, crowns, bridges, twinnings, occlusal plates, implants and cosmetic dentistry.

Why consult a prosthodontist?

The advanced knowledge that a prosthodontist acquires during his additional years of study makes him the most qualified professional to identify the causes of oral decay and to plan the interventions necessary to stop the problems. Dental restorations are performed by the general dentist, but the more complex cases can require the collaboration of many specialists, including the prosthodontist. In addition of performing dental procedures, the prosthodontist is the one that elaborates the treatment sequences and he’s the one that coordinates the interventions from other specialists as well.
